Weekly Marketing Tasks For Local Small Businesses

Post to Google My Business (GMB) and add 2 new original photos.

Create schedule your FB/social posts for the week.  If you can’t schedule your posts on certain platforms, create the image and copy so you can quickly push it live later in the week.  Make a note on your calendar to remind you.

Ask for reviews!  Ask 5 friends, colleagues, or best yet, clients, to leave you a review!  Google is the best place to get them…Facebook and Yelp are the next best.  A review left online anywhere will benefit you!

If you need more business now, run Google Ads!

Why do we recommend you perform these tasks weekly?

Once you get the hang of using the platforms and create systems to improve your efficiency,  you should be able to knock these simple tasks out in 15-30 minutes.  By doing these things you are clearly showing the ‘search engines’ you are actively maintaining your online presence and they will be much more confident that your info is accurate and up-to-date.  They will  display your site more often and in a higher position because of this.

Like many other things in life, to find success with this, you must be consistent and perform these actions over a period of time.  It is common knowledge SEO takes 3-6 months to start reaping the ROI from your  efforts.

Monthly Marketing Tasks For Local Small Businesses

Make sure all info is accurate and up-to-date on your website, GMB, Facebook page, Bing Places, and Yelp.

Add new original images or creating an offer on Google My Business, Facebook, or Bing.  Under no circumstances do we recommend paying Yelp unless you like throwing away marketing dollars.  Add your new photos to Yelp monthly so they know you are active.

Log on to your website and update anything in need – the theme, plugins, or WordPress itself.

Add (or at very least edit) content to your website.  Add some more detail to your main pages such as your homepage or key service pages.  Or add a special note to your homepage such as any special offers or links to seasonal services you are promoting.

Write a blog post!  Pick out a topic very relevant to your business, industry, or customers and create valuable content about it.  Link it to related pages on your website and link to it from other pages on your website where appropriate.

Quarterly Marketing Tasks For Local Small Businesses

At least once a quarter check all of your citations for accuracy.  If you don’t have citations yet, we recommend a minimum of 30, use this citation building tool.  It does cost a little money, but when you consider it takes 15-20 to create a single citation, you will quickly realize their fees are beyond reasonable.

If you are missing any key citations for your geographic area or niche, build them out manually and fully populate them.  Try to get reviews on any citation platform that allows.
