Are you asking yourself what a ‘Web Story’ is?
Don’t feel bad. You’re not alone and that is why I am here! 😁
Web Stories are one of Google’s newest ways for you to put content on the web.
We believe early adaptors of Web Stories will reap the rewards and we are about to tell you why!
What are Web Stories?
Let’s make this clear before moving along. Obviously using the term ‘web story’ could apply to many types of content found on the internet.
We are specifically talking about Web Stories by Google, not about a blog post that was written like a story for example…
You’ll need to code out your own, use the WordStories WordPress plugin by Google is on WordPress, or use a 3rd party tool like New Room AI or MakeStories to make a true Google Web Story and have it distributed across the web by Google.
Does it have to be a story?
Sort of. Google is already cracking down on ‘lead gen’ type ‘stories’ that they have noticed being created.
If you are aware, storytelling has been an effective way to communicate and ‘get people on your side’ for as long as communication has existed.
Each Web Story you create should quickly and briefly tell a story. It can have links and many other features commonly found on web properties to allow you to direct your story’s reader to learn more.
Why should you start making Web Stories right now in early 2021?
Very simply, you should start making Web Stories because your competition is dragging their feet!
Seriously, the majority of websites on the internet today are WordPress websites. We can safely assume that most WordPress website owners would utilize the Web Stories WordPress plugin to accomplish creating their web story.
At the time of this writing, there barely over 20,000 installs of the Web Stories WordPress plugin!
20,000 is not a lot of installs! Check out a popular plugin like Yoast with over 5,000,000 installs or its relatively new competitor RankMath with over 600,000.
Now to you believe me. Hardly anyone is making web stories. If you do it, you will benefit greatly. Google love when you use their tools!
We will be covering how to make a Web Story soon. In the meantime, install the plugin or hop on one of the 3rd party tools and start playing around with it!
